Department of Chemistry - Ångström Laboratory conducts research and education in chemistry. The Department has over 300 active persons, of which 200 are employees and the rest consists of guest researchers and students doing research at Master level. The researcher will be part of “Molecular Devices for Artificial Photosynthesis” group within the physical chemistry program. The program which is highly recognized internationally is part of the Department of chemistry – Ångström Laboratory, within the chemistry section at Uppsala University. The group is situated in a modern building at the Ångström Laboratory. The research at the department spans from organic, inorganic and physical chemistry to biochemistry and biophysics. Strong cross-disciplinary collaborations are characteristic for the department.
Duties: The candidate will prepare organic photocatalysts and study their performance with regards to hydrogen generation from water as well as CO2 reduction. The research will be performed in collaboration with several researchers and research groups in Sweden. Specifically, the collaboration involves organic chemists as well as biochemists for the design of new components, and physical chemists for advanced spectroscopic measurements. The project will be performed at the division of Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry – Ångström Laboratory.
Requirements: The applicant is expected to have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or equivalent, with a physical chemistry component. Experience in photocatalysis and surface functionalization is advantageous. Previous postdoctoral experience or equivalent is desirable. A high level of written and spoken English is required as well as the ability to work in a team. The applicant should have his/her PhD degree no more than three years by the deadline of application.
