Ph.D. project with a focus on synthesis and development of peptide-based PET tracers.
Position for a postgraduate student with a focus on synthesis, labeling and validation of peptide and protein-based PET and SPECT tracers at the Department of Medicine Chemistry with primary placement at the BMC and MTC units in Uppsala.
In medicinal chemistry research, organic compounds are designed, synthesized and evaluated for therapeutic or diagnostic use. In the latter case, organic compounds are labeled with a short-lived positron-emitting radionuclide (PET tracers) for biological evaluation in preclinical in vitro and in vivo models.
The project involves the design and synthesis of both non-radioactive substances and radiolabelled biologically active peptides and proteins for use in molecular imaging with PET and SPECT technology. Evaluation and analysis of results from molecular imaging experiments are included in the project. The project offers great opportunities to work in close collaboration with researchers in various chemical, pharmaceutical, biological and medical fields.
The applicant must have a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry or Technical Chemistry, or equivalent chemistry and biomedical knowledge. Good ability to express yourselves in Swedish as well as English in writing and speech is a requirement. The degree of ability to assimilate the postgraduate education is crucial for employment.
Previous experience (theoretical and practical) in radiochemistry, peptide chemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology and preclinical techniques are meritorious.
Applications should include a CV, copies of diplomas and certificates, a copy of your Master diploma, a list of relevant publications (including master thesis), name and contact details (address, email address and phone number) for your references and a short description of his/hers past experience.
