The Department of Information Technology holds a leading position in research as well as teaching at all levels. The department has about 280 employees, including 120 senior faculty and 110 PhD students. More than 4000 students are enrolled annually. The post-doctoral positions are offered by the Division of Computer Systems, which is one of five divisions of the department. For more information, see www.it.uu.se
Subject area: The Division of Computer Systems pursues a number of research directions in cyber-security, including the automatic detection and prevention of security vulnerabilities in Embedded and IoT software, aspects of web security such as XSS vulnerabilities, techniques to ensure security of Internet-of-Things, such as body devices, as well as open IoT data for Smart Cities. For these IoT devices there is a tension between open data, cloud sensing, and data authenticity and privacy. The announced positions will support some or all of those activities, in collaboration with researchers at the Uppsala Networked Objects group (UNO), the Computer Communication group (CoRe), the Algorithmic Program Verification group, the Programming Languages group, among others. The work will also be carried out in the context of the new SSF projects "aSSIsT: Secure Software for the Internet of Things"
and "LifeSec: Don't Hack my Body!".

Qualifications required: Candidates should have a Doctoral Degree (PhD or equivalent) in Computer Science or similar area, and have a strong background in several of the areas security, program analysis and verification, networking, IoT, privacy, and data science. The Doctoral Degree must have been awarded at most three years before the application deadline (this time will be extended for medical leave, parental leave, etc.). High-quality publications in international peer-reviewed journals or conferences are expected. The applicant should be highly motivated and have good collaboration skills. Excellent skills in spoken and written English are an absolute requirement.
Assessment Criteria/Ranking; The ranking of eligible applicants will be based primarily on research expertise. In filling this position the University aims to appoint the applicant who, following a qualitative holistic assessment of her/his competence and expertise is judged to have the best potential to carry out the relevant duties and to contribute to the advancement of research at the Division of Computer Systems.
In the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, parental leave, part-time work relating to care of children, union assignments, military service, or the like are to be regarded as work experience, and should be listed as merits in the application.
