Entry requirements
120 credits, including 90 credits in science/engineering. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course, students should be able to
- summarise theories and apply tools in the field of project management,
- select and justify appropriate planning and management methodology in relation to the focus and scope of a given project, with a focus on technical development projects,
- plan projects and project implementation, taking into account project objectives and stakeholders in the value chain,
- establish a project budget and carry out financial monitoring while the project is ongoing and after its completion,
- make risk assessments and draw up an appropriate contingency plan.
Content
Theories and tools in project management. Different types of industrial projects with a focus on technical development projects. The project's relationship to hierarchical operations and strategy. Projectification. Stakeholder perspectives. Project planning and project control. Project leadership and communication. Budgeting, financial management and financial monitoring of projects. Risk management.
Instruction
Lectures and seminars.
Assessment
Written examination, and written and oral presentation of assignments.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
