Entry requirements

A Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or social science. Also required is 45 credits at Master's level in wind power project management. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • explain different stages within the construction of wind power projects
  • explain how operation and maintenance is planned for wind power projects
  • create a detailed construction plan for a wind power project
  • explain how the yield of a wind farm can be optimized
  • identify and suggest solutions for problems and risks within project plans and schedules

Content

The course includes work with the scheduling and planning of wind power projects. How to account for potential issues and provide solutions for both common and unexpected events within this scheduling will be introduced. The course introduces best practices for wind power project construction, operation and decommissioning. These are used to create a project plan which identifies and provides solutions for potential problems and risks of a project. In addition, the course will identify key concerns and solutions for the construction and operation phases of a wind power project which are used during its planning, including health and safety issues. The course also introduce strategies for operation and maintenance as well as methods for monitoring and optimizing operation.

Lectures, workshops and seminars.

Assessment

Written and oral assignments 4 credits, active seminar participation 2 credits and written project report 4 credits.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
