Postdoc with a focus on electron structure studies with functional perovkites.
Uppsala University is a comprehensive research-intensive university with a strong international standing. Our mission is to pursue top-quality research and education and to interact constructively with society. Our most important assets are all the individuals whose curiosity and dedication make Uppsala University one of Sweden’s most exciting workplaces. Uppsala University has 44.000 students, 7.100 employees and a turnover of SEK 7 billion.
The research conducted at the Department of Physics and Astronomy encompasses a wide range of physics topics, distributed over ten divisions. The department is located in the Ångström laboratory and employs nearly 400 people, 125 of whom are doctoral students. It offers a broad physics curriculum to undergraduate and graduate students, participation in nationally and internationally leading projects for researchers, and opportunities for partnership with industry and various outreach activities.
The research will be conducted within research collaborations on energy materials and their applications within the Department of Physics and Astronomy. A large part of the research work will consist of studies of functional perovskite halides and oxides, especially for solar cells and other optoelectronic devices within the framework of funded VR, SSF and STEM projects. Correlating surface and bulk structure (electronic as well as geometric) to the functionality of efficient solar cell material is an important goal. The research focuses on experimental studies of the structure of the materials and properties using and developing advanced experimental methods, especially X-ray based spectroscopy. In addition to the combination of such methodology, research will also include thin film preparations using, e.g. PLD and solvent based methods, of the material into functional devices that will be investigated with traditional solar cell characterization tools.
Qualifications: Requirements: To qualify for an employment as a postdoctor you must have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in physics. The PhD degree must have been obtained no more than three years prior to the application deadline. The three year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
Experience of work with synchrotron light, including experimental and data analyses on x-ray absorption and other spectroscopies, and preparation and characterization of thin films. The ability to obtain and use beamtimes at synchrotron facilities as well as experience of international research collaboration. Experience of preparation and thin film material synthesis, such as growth of samples using PLD or spin coating as well as experience of PV characterization. Good communication skills in English are also required.
Uppsala University strives to be an inclusive workplace that promotes equal opportunities and attracts qualified candidates who can contribute to the University’s excellence and diversity. We welcome applications from all sections of the community and from people of all backgrounds.
