Biography

Christine Mackay Tircomnicu is a lecturer at the Department of English, Uppsala University. She has taught the majority of courses available to student teachers (primary school programme and secondary school programme) and has worked on the development of many of these courses.

She has an MA Ordinary degree from the University of Glasgow and an MA in Applied Linguistics from the University of Sussex. She has the RSA Diploma in TEFLA from the University of Cambridge.

Christine has previously taught at Folkuniversitetet, worked as a language consultant for the Swedish Intellectual Property Office, and written and presented radio programmes for the Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company.

In recent years she has organised and taught courses for the Unit for Professional English, which is a part of the Department of English and provides language training for Uppsala University employees. The UPE is also a part of an EU collaboration with a number of African universities where Christine teaches both PhD students and teaching staff.

In 2020, Christine was awarded the Independent Pedagogical Prize by Uppsala University for her work on feedback. In 2021, she was promoted to the position of Distinguished University Teacher.
