Short presentation

Ida-Maja Lindström is a PhD Student at the Centre for Gender Research. With a background in human geography and gender studies, she has had a long-standing interest in how gender equality and sustainability is practised in everyday life. Her project focuses on downshifting and voluntary simplicity in Sweden, lifestyles where people intend to reduce work-time and consumption to enable a better work-life balance and reduce their ecological impact.

My thesis project focuses on downshifting and voluntary simplicity in Sweden, lifestyles where people intend to reduce work-time and consumption to enable a better work-life balance and reduce their ecological impact. The project explores the motivations and experiences of these lifestyles, trying to understand in what ways they might be gendered.
