Jomo Kigotho

Jomo Kigotho was born in Melbourne, Australia and graduated with a B Pharm Sci Adv in 2018 at Monash University in the same city. Growing up in both Australia and rural Kenya ignited a passion for antimicrobial drug discovery, so he pursued honours and eventually PhD research on the design, synthesis and evaluation of novel antimalarials. He completed his PhD in medicinal chemistry in 2023 under the supervision of Prof Peter Scammells, Dr Shane Devine, Assoc Prof Darren Creek and Prof Ray Norton. He then worked on novel GPCR agonists as inhaled medicines at the University of Nottingham within the group of Assoc Prof Shailesh Mistry with a focus on optimising the physicochemical properties of the compounds while retaining requisite activity.

Currently, Jomo works within the group of Prof Luke Odell focusing on discovering new antibiotics.
