Biography
For more details, see my web site at www.cb.uu.se/~kiselman/.
I am a mathematician who speaks Swedish, Esperanto, English, and French. Since 2014, I am a guest professor at Uppsala University.
The mathematicians who have meant most for me were Lars Hörmander (1931--2012) and André Martineau (1930--1972).
I have been the main scientific advisor of eighteen doctoral students from seven countries. They obtained their degrees during the period 1974--2016; four of these after my retirement. The last two from Stockholm University and l'Université des Sciences, des Techniques et des Technologies de Bamako.
In school I studied English, German, and French. My most inspiring teacher was Karl Axnäs (1899--1984). I started to study Russian at the age of 13. I lived more than one year in the United States and more than two years in France. I studied Persian (2007--2009) and Classical Greek (2010--2011) at Uppsala University and, during the academic year 2015/2016, Yiddish at Lund University. In July 2016 I participated in a seven-day course in Yiddish in Weimar.
Research
I have done research on partial differential equations; then during many years on complex analys and complex geometry, including geometry in infinitely many dimensions. My latest puplications on complex geometry (16-1) was published in March 2016. A later paper on complex geometry was accepted in March 2019 for publication.
Nowadays I am working mainly on digital geometry, mathematical morphology, and discrete optimization---I am writing a book on these topics.
I am doing research also on Esperanto and Yiddish (publications 92-a, 08-a, 15-a, 15-b, 16-b). I have two longer texts in preparation.
