The objective of the INIS 2023 study is to internationally explore dietitians' implementation and experiences with standardised work processes and terminologies, and to assess their link to the use of electronic health records and the management of outcome data.

Description

Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCP/NCPT) was developed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) to provide dietitians with a framework for decision-making and logical thinking. This framework and terminology is currently used by dietitians worldwide. In 2017, the first INIS study was conducted, aiming to assess dietitians' implementation of NCP and NCPT internationally in 10 countries. In 2023, the study is repeated, now covering 23 countries worldwide and also focusing on other terminologies and processes, such as the ICF (International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) Dietetics terminology, which is used in some European countries. We also focus on the implementation and use of electronic health records and results management among dietitians globally.

Hopefully, the insights from this study will help to guide the future development of dietetic practice.
