Tribomaterialgruppen are experts in tribological testing on a laboratory scale. We always focus on the relevance of the testing; we test with conditions that match the application. Over the years we have developed and built a diverse and unique collection of test rigs, often designed specifically for given contact situations.
Tribotesting
Tribological contacts are difficult to predict based on theory, requiring extensive testing to optimise the design, materials and surface treatment of tools and mechanical components. Tribological testing also aims to increase the understanding of friction and wear mechanisms through advanced microscopic and surface analyses.
The Tribomaterials group has developed different test rigs for specific contact situations and emphasises the importance of understanding the governing factors in the intended application. We use advanced surface imaging to ensure that the test reproduces the correct wear mechanisms.
