Can you invent new drugs and be a pop star at the same time? Join in as Alice, David, Nadia and Valter, seventh graders at the Uppsala Music Classes, visit Uppsala University's Faculty of Pharmacy to find out if it is true that some of the world's best researchers work in their hometown (English subtitles available).

The middle school students, guided by Dean Mathias Hallberg and Deputy Dean Anja Sandström, experience frontline antibiotic research, cancer care of the future, a printer adapting pills for ill children, a robot testing new drugs - and at the Student Union, the fourteen-year-olds find themselves being the stars of a rock concert with the world's hardest rocking Vice-Chancellors.

“It was amazing to see how many talented pharmaceutical researchers there are in our own city. Everything was just super exciting, but if I have to choose one thing, the robot lab was probably the coolest. I especially liked the part about the robot learning from its own experiments, and it was great fun when it waved goodbye to us as we were leaving,” says Alice Mankert.

The visit from Uppsala Music Classes was immortalised on film. Partly to give the students a memory of their day at the Faculty of Pharmacy, but also to show other potential future pharmaceutical experts a taste of everything that is going on in the Faculty's research groups.

“We strive to prioritise our outreach activities and to increase interest in our faculty's education. We’re quite convinced that our young guests really appreciated taking part in our research and the activities at the Student union. We would like to express our warm thanks to the researchers, the Student Union and not least Anders Hagfeldt, Anders Hallberg, Per Hansson and Tomas Edvinsson, who helped us add an extra silver lining on the children's visit,” states Mathias Hallberg and Anja Sandström.
