Three candidates for Vice-Chancellor called for interview

The Recruitment Committee decided today to put forward three candidates for the post of Vice-Chancellor for interview by the University’s Electoral Assembly on 28 May.
The three candidates are (in alphabetical order):
Anders Hagfeldt was formerly Professor of Chemical Physics at Uppsala University, and he has been Chairman of the Committee for Development Research at the Swedish Research Council, among other positions.
Mats Larhed is Chair of SciLifeLab Uppsala Steering Group and, since 2011, Deputy Vice-Rector of the Disciplinary Domain of Medicine and Pharmacy, Uppsala University.
Eva Tiensuu Janson was Head of the Department of Medical Sciences, Uppsala University, from 2009 to 2014 and she has been Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Uppsala University, since 2014.
The current Vice-Chancellor’s term of office expires at the end of 2020. The process of recruiting a new Vice-Chancellor began in mid-2019 with a decision of the University Board, after which a person specification for a new Vice-Chancellor was drawn up and approved on 17 January this year.

The recruitment process
- The above candidates for the post of Vice-Chancellor will be interviewed on 28 May, after which the University’s Electoral College will hold its ‘electoral meeting’ on 8 June.
- On 9 June, the Recruitment Committee will decide on a proposal for new Vice-Chancellor, based on the recommendations of the Electoral College.
- On 17 June, the University Board will decide which candidate to propose as Vice-Chancellor to the government.
