Hydro power

Uppsala University’s research on hydropower focuses on understanding and further developing old hydropower generators. This includes studying how the generators interact with electricity networks to handle a deregulated electricity market with an increased penetration of renewable energy sources. Cooperation with the Swedish Hydropower Centre offers opportunities for verifying models developed within the research areas. There is also research on marine current power, focusing on vertical axis turbines, and on forecasting water levels in hydropower reservoirs.
