Swedish center for the impacts of climate extremes

Swedish center for the impacts of climate extremes (climes) is an interdisciplinary research center aimed at exploring and understanding the consequences of climate extremes. The center was established as part of the Swedish Research Council’s excellence initiative and began its operations on January 1, 2024. It combines expertise from fields such as meteorology, hydrology, social sciences, and data science and machine learning tto analyze how climate extremes affect communities and ecosystems.

The research at climes focuses on data collection, model development, and creating strategies to reduce vulnerability and enhance resilience to climate changes. The center's initial funding is secured for five years, with the possibility of an extension for another five years after a comprehensive evaluation of its research progress and societal impact.
