Economists Oscar Erixson and Mattias Öhman at IBF and Mikael Elinder at the Department of Economics were awarded the Myrdal prize for their article "Intelligence is linked to rapid vaccination against covid-19, but it doesn't have to be!" in the National Economic Association's journal Ekonomisk Debatt.

The winning article was published in 2023 and is a popular science variant of the scientific article Cognitive ability, health policy, and the dynamics of COVID-19 vaccination, which attracted international attention when it was published in the Journal of Health Economics.

– We are very happy that our article is recognized with the Myrdal prize. In our study, we see that the design of the vaccination program is of great importance in achieving rapid vaccination coverage, and we hope that the study can contribute to even more effective programs in the future, says Mattias Öhman, researcher in Economics at IBF.
