Transfer of credits

If you have studied courses at another Swedish or foreign university, it is possible to include these courses in your degree from Uppsala University, which is called credit transfer. Different rules apply if you want to transfer credit for part or all of a course from Uppsala University, and if the previous courses were studied at a Swedish or foreign university

Courses from foreign universities

All courses from foreign universities that are to be included in your degree must be transfered. Applications for credit transfer for courses from foreign universities are made to the Student Office.

Full course from Swedish universities

Full courses from Swedish universities that are to be included in a general degree (such as bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics) do not need to be credited but can be included directly in your degree.

Part of a course from Swedish higher education institutions

Part of a course from a Swedish higher education institution that is to be included in a general degree must be transfered. These cases are handled by the department responsible for the course.

Please note that we cannot give an advance decision, i.e. the important thing to be able to transfer credits is that you are admitted and registered on the course that you want to transfer credits towards another course that you have already completed at another college/university in Sweden.

It may be possible to credit part of a course, i.e. if you have taken a 7.5-credit course, it may in some cases be part of a larger course and you do supplementary assignments on the parts you are missing. It may also be possible if you have not fully completed the other course, as long as it is clearly stated in the syllabus and transcript of records what you have completed.

If you are studying on a programme that the Department of Mathematics is not responsible for, you should contact your programme study advisor to get the correct form and procedure. If you are a student on the master's programme in mathematics, send your credit transfer request to studexp@math.uu.se.
