To have influence over your studies is important. As a student, you know best what works and what needs to be improved concerning your education. During your time at Uppsala University, you have the opportunity to play an active role in influencing your study situation and work environment in many different ways.
The purpose of student influence is to ensure and uphold the quality of the education provided. According to the Higher Education Act, students have the right to representation in all decision-making bodies that govern education and the conditions for students at the university.
Student representatives are appointed by the student unions or through organisations that the student unions have delegated the task to. The student unions are therefore essential for ensuring that student influence is always maintained.
Appointed student representatives must be able to take part in meetings with various university bodies in order to exercise their student influence. For this reason, the course of studies of student representatives should be as accommodating as possible.
Course evaluations give you as a student a significant opportunity to contribute to the university’s work with quality management in education. Course evaluations should be made in correlation to every course. All course evaluations are made anonymously.
Developing teaching and learning
Uppsala University has a programme for teaching and learning wich aims to render the visions for the university's educational development and teaching quality. The programme will establish the responsibility of university staff and students to ensure that this development actually takes place. The programme has been developed by students, teaching staff, educational leaders and developers and the university management.
Student work environment
All students have the right to a good study and work environment. It means that the points of view of students are always taken into account and they are given the opportunity to influence their study situation and work environment. Uppsala University has an overall responsibility to work systematically with improving the student work environment and to create routines together with employees, students and safety officers to prevent poor health and accidents.
