About the course
The course provides you with an overview of the theoretical frameworks offered by historical ecology for understanding interactions between society, environment and climate, as well as their particular complexities. During the course, we will discuss and critically assess the importance of having an integrated and long-term understanding of these complex interactions when we try to comprehend and solve present-day problems of sustainability. You will be given examples of historical ecologies, and we will look at long-term processes of human-environmental interactions and particular case studies.
