How did you choose your programme?
– I chose to study Bio and Nano Materials as it is unique due to the multidisciplinary teams that provide an extensive community to create effective and efficient solutions. The programme is also pioneering in collaborating between academia, industry, and clinic - in which I want to take part.

What is it like to be an international student?
– Being an international student has been a roller coaster of emotions. But without a doubt, has it been the best investment and decision I made for my future.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The expertise of the professors who teach the courses and the international student environment you are exposed to.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala? Please tell us!
– I remember myself thinking "This is a beautiful and picturesque town".

– Grocery shopping, boardgame night with my friends and fika with my boyfriend.

Describe the student life / What is your best experience so far?
– My student life is being busy at either classes and studying, or doing housework.

For me, the process of learning is what fuels me. And then making use of what I have learned to leave my mark. Therefore, I would say my goal is to make an impact on society through science.

How did you choose your programme?
– After completing my Bachelor's, my interest focused on the chemical perspective of materials in combination with biochemistry. This led me to Uppsala University's Master's programme in bio- and nanomaterials. Which, unlike most programmes, covered both subjects, aligning perfectly with my dual interests.

What is it like to be an international student?
– It’s a mixture of feelings, I believe it’s one of the most rewarding experiences you could ever have. You will experience joy, sadness, fear, and excitement! It’s living an adventure where you will challenge yourself not just academically but also personally.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– Uppsala University is not just an old university with high prestige, it embraces you as one of its members and provides a great support network for you. I would say “They have your back!”.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala? Please tell us!
– The first time I came to Uppsala I was astonished by how quaint it was, and the cathedral was breathtaking. I thought it was a quiet town with a slow pace, but I was wrong. Between studies, student nations and exploring the town, the slow pace became a fast pace.

Describe the student life
– Uppsala student life is unique, between studying hard for your classes you can also enjoy the student nations, which provides a fun place to meet new friends. My best experience so far has been watching the river raft race in spring on Valborg (”Walpurgis”). It’s an event you cannot miss and it’s amazing to see so many people in Uppsala in one day.

Name three things you are doing this week!
– Let’s see, this week I will be working on my thesis at the laboratory, going to the gym, and of course – having “fika” with friends.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– For me, the process of learning is what fuels me. And then making use of what I have learned to leave my mark. Therefore, I would say my goal is to make an impact on society through science. I’m still deciding if I will do it through a breakthrough discovery in research as an academic researcher or through an invention in industry. Especially because I’m interested in medical sciences for my future development.

What is your favourite place in Uppsala?
– I would say it would have to be Lake Ekoln, it is such a nice place to spend the day and enjoy nature.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
– Graduating from my PhD here in Sweden!

Where is the best place to study?
– For me, a library lover, it is Carolina Rediviva because it has such a great environment to study.
