How did you choose your programme?
– I have taken long-distance freestanding courses in pharmaceutical structural bioinformatics. I was trained with software tools to analyse protein structures, which academic supervisors were looking for when interviewing. I then took the chance and courage to become an attractive future employee and applied for the program.

What is it like to be an international student?
– Sweden is an informal country where professors are addressed by their first names. This gives you a different level of confidence in asking the most basic questions. If you like socializing, the programme and student nations provide you with different fun events where you can meet other international students.

What is the best thing about studying at Uppsala University?
– The courses are followed by wet laboratory practice where you apply what you learned or even design yourself during the dry laboratory practice! If you want more research experience, you have the opportunity to change one of the courses for a Research Traineeship. You also have the chance to choose modules that best match your interests among the different options.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala?
– Uppsala seemed a small city which carried the last traces of the peaceful and cold season, ready to welcome the Spring. I was amazed that what seemed a fairly small city could actually become such a vibrant place!

Name three things you are doing this week!
– This week I am attending “The student conference in Science and Technology”, “the course representative meeting” for Protein Engineering course and working on a “Project” assignment.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– I am currently building a toolbox with consistency, resilience, techniques, and research experience that will allow me to combine my biomedical, cancer biology and biochemistry background with protein biochemistry in the context of human diseases. I will achieve this through a PhD position followed by a Post Doc and remain in Academia thereafter.

Describe the student life / What is your best experience so far?
– Getting involved in different extracurricular activities has given me a wealth of confidence, connections, and growth opportunities. At Uppsala University every week can become your “best experience” by signing up for social events such as international symposiums, chemistry student organisations, workshops, volunteering, career lectures, dissertations etc. It is up to you to make the most of your time here!

– The Rosendal area because is close to the university and surrounded by forest.

Where is the best place to study?
– The Ångström laboratory campus, which is stunning!

– I chose the biochemistry Master’s programme at Uppsala University because of its world-leading research groups and the broad opportunities for thesis projects. The subject selection aligned with my interests, offering a chance to work in a diverse and dynamic scientific environment.

What is it like to be an international student?
– Being an international student in Uppsala, and in Sweden overall, is very comfortable as everyone is welcoming and fluent in English.

Do you remember your first impression of Uppsala? Please tell us!
– My first impression of Uppsala was at the end of summer when I arrived. The city was bustling with new, excited students from all around the world. It was a nice and exciting start to a new journey in a multicultural friend group.

Name three things you are doing this week!
– This week, I'll be going to the Biomedical Center (BMC) for my master thesis research, meeting friends for Fika, and checking out the market opening in Uppsala this weekend.

What is your reason for studying, or your ultimate goal?
– My goal is to become an esteemed member of an RNA research team. I'm currently finalising my Master's degree and aiming for subsequent PhD studies.

Describe the student life
– Student life is an interesting journey of learning, self-discovery, and experiences. I've been lucky to make outstanding friends from different countries and share my time with them.

– The botanical garden.

– I see myself working on research, either in industry or academia.
