Entry requirements
Bachelor's degree including alternative 1) 40 credit points/60 credits biology and 20 credit points/30 credits chemistry or 20 credit points/30 credits earth sciences; alternative 2) 60 credit points/90 credits biology.
Learning outcomes
After the course, the student should have
� specialised and practical knowledge about man's anatomy and physiology with special emphasis on
* physiological requirements and adaptations to different activities and extreme environments e g diving, cold, heat, stay on high altitude.
* nutrition (nutritional requirements, diet recommendations, slimming diets, glycemic index)
* sports nutrition (diet for different activities, performance-enhancing substances, carbohydrate stores fat combustion),
* physiology of physical exercises (exercises power and endurance, muscle fibres, circulation and respiratory physiology)
* doping and performance-enhancers
* narcotics
* immunodefence and stress
� applied and increased ability to search and review information within some field within the course
� obtained training in oral and written communication
Content
The course consists of lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions. At the laboratory sessions include determinations of body composition, calculations of diet, registration of activity and measurement of physical capacity.
Modules: Theory 7 credits; Laboratory sessions 3 credits
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, laboratory sessions and study visits. Participation in scheduled activities is compulsory.
Assessment
For passing grade participation in compulsory parts (1 credit) passed written and oral presentation of literature assignment (6 credits) are required. For the practicals (3 credits) a passed laboratory report is required.
