Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is expected to be able to conduct advanced and independent analyses of important real world macroeconomic issues.
Content
The course covers six major areas, namely (i) economic growth, (ii) business cycles, (iii) consumption, (iv) investment, (v) unemployment, and (vi) macroeconomic policy. Questions addressed include the following: Why are some countries richer than others? What determines economic growth? Which are the driving forces behind economic fluctuations? What determines unemployment in the short run and in the long run? How can monetary and fiscal policy affect economic fluctuations?
Instruction
The course material will be presented in lectures.
Assessment
The course will be concluded by a written exam. There are three grades: pass with distinction (VG), pass (G) and fail (U).
