General provisions
The course is elective and consists of clinical placement and is included in the specialist nursing programme with focus on oncology care, 60 credits. The course can also be implemented in an international exchange programme.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student will be able to: Knowledge and understanding
- demonstrate a deeper ability of cooperation in the chain of care in oncology care
- demonstrate a deeper ability in oncology nursing
- account for safety aspects at cytotoxin treatment and radiology treatment
Skills and ability
- demonstrate a deeper ability to identify and assess independently the patient's need and resources, plan, implement and coordinate oncology nursing in collaboration with close relations and other personnel categories in the chain of care, according to best available evidence
- implement independently medical prescriptions in oncology care
- apply safety aspects during cytotoxin treatment and radiology treatment
- plan and carry out teaching and instructions to different categories of students and health-care personnel
- develop strategies for implementation of current research results and initiating change management in oncology care
Judgement and approach
- demonstrate a deeper ability to evaluate oncology nursing
- with a professional and empathetic approach meet and communicate with patients and their close relations

Supervision by specialist nurse in collaboration with clinical lecturer/clinical senior lecturer

COMPULSORY PARTS
Introduction to course, seminars, proficiency training, clinical placement, study assignments including written and oral presentation.
Assessment
Examination of the course includes assessment of knowledge, skills and attitudes according to learning outcomes formulated by the students AssCE-Form (Löfmark, A. et Thorell-Ekstrand, I. 2009), study assignments and clinical examinations related to the learning outcomes of the course.
Other directives
Student who has not passed in clinical placement has the right to go through renewed clinical placement once. chapter 6, section 21 of the Higher Education Ordinance (1993:100))
Interrupted clinical placement in early
A student may fail and be forced to interrupt the clinical placement in early if there is a noticeable risk that the student due to severe incompetence may injure another individual or valuable property if he or she continues the clinical placement.
An individual plan must be determined for the student and submitted to him/her in writing In this plan, which is to be decided by the programme committee, lack of existing knowledge and skill must be stated as well as what support the student may receive from the department in addition to how and when the examination will take place A student is entitled to a maximum of two assessment occasions, however no more than once a year. The student must not participate in the clinical placement again until the programme committee has assessed and accepted the required knowledge and skills of the student.
