The course is included in the X-ray nursing programme, semester 2 and contains 7.5 credits theoretical education.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to:

1. Describe and identify anatomic structures in thorax -, skeletons - and abdomen anatomy and pathology within the radiological diagnostics.

2. Describe and explain what kind of contrast is used in different examinations and how it influences the images.

3. Identify the contraindications and explain how adverse side effects can be prevented and what treatments are given at a contrast reaction.

4. Describe and explain the basics in nuclear medicine diagnostics and identify the anatomy and the pathology within breast diagnostics.

5. Describe and explain the advantages and limitations of the basic ultrasonography diagnostics.

Assessment

The course is completed with a written examination. Student failing examination the first time is allowed 4 re-examinations (in total 5 examinations).
