Entry requirements

120 credits including at least 20 credits in mathematics including combinatorics and 30 credits in computer science, including Secure computer systems I.

Learning outcomes

In order to pass, the student must be able to:

  • analyse security in different parts of computer systems
  • explain and use principles and techniques to address weaknesses and strengthen the security of computer systems
  • explain and use some theoretical models for security
  • present and discuss the course content orally and in writing with proficiency appropriate to the course level

Content

The course covers advanced aspects of security, focusing on distributed systems. Theoretical models, access control, cryptographic protocols and mobile code. Security in mobile and wireless systems.

Assessment

The course is examined orally and with written assignments throughout the course.
