Learning outcomes
After the course the student is able to use the basic principles of solid mechanics and methods to solve important types of solid mechanics problems.
Content
Material properties: elastic and elastic-plastic materials. Rods in tension and compression: simple trusses. Isostatic and hyperstatic structures. Torsion of circular shafts. Bending of beams: stresses and deformations. Stress and strain analysis. Yield criteria. Fracture mechanics. Fatigue. Fundamental theory of stability.
Instruction
Lectures, lessons and laboratory work.
Assessment
Written examination at the end of the course (4.5 credits). Laboratory work (0.5 credits).
