Entry requirements
PC-board Construction with ECAD-tools
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- handle production and testing of smaller electronic designs,
- assess how to fulfil disturbance and reflection restrictions on signal lines between components on a printed circuit board (PCB).
Content
Exercises:
Using simulation program (SPICE type), Network analyser and Oscilloscope where cross-talk “ringing”, transmission times, skew etc.etera is measured to give deeper understanding about the influence from line-drawings and different termination methods for single and differential lines.
Production and testing:
Be involved in the production phase with placement of components using so called dispenser. Soldering of components using simple methods (soldering iron) and more elaborate with oven. Unsoldering with simpler method (soldering iron) and special heater and vacuum- suction tool. Finally testing of a design using logic-analyser and oscilloscope and eventually using programs on a PC.
Instruction
Lectures, laboratory exercises and computer exercises.
Assessment
Construction and tests of PC-boards (3.5 credits) and extended EMC-exercise (1.5 credits).
