Entry requirements
120 credits from courses within the Biomedicine Programme at Uppsala University.
Learning outcomes
After having participated in the recurrent oral and written proficiency training within the Biomedicine Programme and on completion of the course the student should be able to:
- write a scientific abstract in Swedish
- write a popular scientific abstract of a scientific work in Swedish
- write a scientific abstract in English
- present a scientific work orally in Swedish
- do an oral presentation of a scientific abstract in English
- utilise the support for seeking information that is provided by the university library
- reflect on his/her own ability to present scientific data orally and in writing, and be able to use his/her own experiences from presentations, seminars and group assignments.
- discuss ethical issues in an adequate manner.
Content
Presentation techniques with and without technical aids, written presentations, popular scientific presentations and scientific English. Also included is a ethics theme day.
Instruction
Lectures, filmed oral presentations in Swedish and English, submission of scientific and popular scientific texts in Swedish and a submission of written scientific summary in English. Ethics seminars.
Assessment
The course is examined through filmed oral presentations and the submission of summaries of scientific text in Swedish and English and popular scientific texts in Swedish. Participation in the ethics day is mandatory.
