General provisions

The degree project can be carried out within or outside the university or as a collaborative project. The subject should be established by the examiner at the Faculty of Pharmacy after having consulted student and supervisor. Before course introduction, choices of supervisors and the planning of the work should be accepted by the Faculty of Pharmacy's examiner. The student should be registered at the Faculty of Pharmacy. In addition to the compulsory written and oral presentation of the degree project the work with the project can also be presented in a popular scientific manner through participation with a poster or a talk in a symposium that is organised at the end of the term. This course replaces and corresponds to the courses 3FB018, 3FB440 and 3FB002.

Entry requirements

For students on the Master of Science Programme in Pharmacy applies that at least 180 credits within the programme including the courses Physiology 12 credits, Pharmacology 16.5 credits, Pharmacokinetics 7.5 credits and Pharmacotherapy 7.5 credits, should be approved at the beginning of the course. Eligibility to be accepted to single subject course is the one that has 180 credits of which at least 90 credits within pharmacy, including at least 15 credits at level C, which should include at least 7.5 credits pharmacokinetics and 7.5 credits pharmacotherapy and basic course in pharmacology and physiology or the equivalent knowledge. Equivalent knowledge is tested individually. Knowledge in Swedish and English equivalent what that is required for basic eligibility to Swedish higher education on basic level.

Content

The course is comprised by an individual assignment that is based on a scientific basis and that is carried out guided by a supervisor in close connection with ongoing research or development project. In connection with the work the student specialises in science theory and research methodology. Under the degree project, the student gets opportunity to apply knowledge that has been acquired under earlier studies. The work should light up the connections that prevail between undergraduate programme, research and development work and connect to the future work and methods that are used in the area.

Instruction

Teaching be announced in the form of individual supervision literature studies and seminars. Compulsory parts of the course: Written presentation of the degree project and oral presentation of the work through participation in a general seminar announced by the department and a popular compilation of the project work in the form of e g a poster or a talk.

Assessment

The degree project is presented orally in front of an audience and written in a report that has the form of a scientific essay. For a passing grade the student must pass oral presentation (examination code), written report (examination code) and all portions of the course that are obligatory (examination code).
