Entry requirements
Projects and Leadership. A basic course in Industrial Management as well as Leadership and Communication.
Learning outcomes
After a successfully completed course the student should be able to:
- explain the concepts of conflict and conflict management,
- identify and describe various defence mechanisms,
- analyse and explain different conflict management styles,
- analyse a conflict applying different models,
- describe the importance of leadership in a conflict.
Content
Different aspects of the concept of conflict linked to the individual and the group in a leadership context. How personal responsibility with respect to both conflict management style and defence patterns can affect the development of a conflict. The importance of leadership in a conflict and its management. Different perspectives on various levels and types of conflicts. How conflicts can be prevented to obtain a viable and functional group and/or relationship.
Instruction
Lectures, exercises and seminars.
Assessment
Written asignments (4 credits). Active participation in seminars (1 credit).
