Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to have received:
- a first contact with his or her own research, presented in the form of an essay
- in-depth knowledge of two different areas of philosophy.
Content
The course consists of three parts:
- Optional course 1 (7,5 credits)
- Optional course 2 (7,5 credits)
- C-essay (15 credits)
The list of optional courses varies from term to term. Please contact the department for the current list.
The C-essay may be exchanged for two additional optional courses, but this alternative does not fulfil the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Arts with theoretical philosophy as the main field of study. This alternative is mainly for exchange students whose universities do not allow essays at that level.
Essay C, 15 credits
After consultation with the teacher and under his or her supervision, the student writes an essay, which is discussed at a seminar. Mandatory participation in C-seminars.
Optional course 1, 7.5 credits
A course in any field of theoretical philosophy that is either not dealt with at all in the C-essay, or is only superficially dealt with there.
Optional course 2, 7.5 credits
A course in any field of philosophy that is either not dealt with at all in the C-essay, or is only superficially dealt with there. The content of the course may not overlap with the content of the optional course 1.
Instruction
The education consists of lectures and seminars.
Assessment
The examination of the C-essay is done by public defence of the student's essay. The examination of the other parts is done through assignments.
