General provisions

The course is an independent course.

Entry requirements

Satisfied requirements for a Degree of Bachelor with German as main field of study, or 120 credits, 90 credits of which are in German, including a degree project.

Learning outcomes

The course consists of a cohesive course worth 7.5 credits in a current research area. The theme of the course varies and aims to give students advanced knowledge in German linguistic research and to train their ability to carry out minor research assignments in the area of research concerned. ​

Upon completing the course, students should:

• be able to give an account of central concepts, current theories and methods, as well as important results in the thematic field of research

• be able to apply these concepts, theories and methods to the texts addressed in the course in an independent and reflecting way

• be able to cogently discuss the theories and methods, and their application to the texts addressed

Instruction

The teaching consists of seminars in which current linguistic research is brought up and illustrated in practical analyses and exercises.

Assessment

Continuous assessment, minor written and oral analysis tasks, final written assignment.

The following grades may be awarded: Pass with Distinction, Pass or Fail.

Students who do not achieve a passing grade on the regular examination will have another opportunity to take the examination within a reasonable period of time after the first examination.

Other directives

The course may be included in German D2 as Thematic course in German linguistics - current aspects, 7.5 credits.
