General provisions
The course is given as an eligible course in term 5 in the Nursing programme and is composed as a 5 week clinical placement. The placement is eligible in fields where a nurse can get employment and access to a placement is available.
EXCHANGE
In order to participate in the selection for exchange (clinical placement outside Sweden), followed courses from term 1, 2 and 3 (90 credits total) are required.
Entry requirements
Eligible to register are students who have passed courses from term 1, 2 and 3, and have passed clinical placement during term 4 (in total 103,5 credits).
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should autonomous be able to:
- together with the care team, including patient and close associates, plan, implement and evaluate independent and dependent nursing care/care measures to promote health and well-being/minimise suffering at identified health status/risk of ill health
- apply drug management and evaluate mechanism of action and side effects
- apply evidence-based knowledge and steering documents in relation to nursing, organisation and leadership
- apply for the situation adapted information and communication technologies
- show self-knowledge and empathic ability
- evaluate their need for additional knowledge and demonstrate strategies for the continuous development of their skills

HEALTH SCIENCES WITH SPECIALISATION IN NURSING
- ethical, cultural, gender and eqaulity aspects in nursing
- theories, models and concepts related to health science, including nursing process
- evidence-based care, including quality and safety aspects of health care
- the organisation of health care, laws, regulations and other steering documents
- information and communication technology
- independent and dependent health care measures, including health promotion measures
- documentation and care planning models

MEDICAL SCIENCE
- pathophysiology, diagnostics and treatment for ill health and medical condition within somatic care.

WORKING METHODS
Clinical placement
COMPULSORY PARTS
Introduction to course, seminars, placement, study assignments with written presentation and examination.
Assessment
The assignments is examined during present course based on the guidelines (date and time), stated by the course leader/examiner. The assessment toll AssCe is used as support for examination of clinical placement
Other directives
Student who have not approved the clinical placement have the right to undergo renewed placement once (Dnr 3579/98, 3651/98l). The time is determined on a case-to-case basis, based on the availability of teachers and supervisors within the clinical organisation, preferentially within the term. Clinical placement is given in cooperation with clinical organisation, leave cannot be approved during the placment. Clinical placement can be scheduled in evenings/weekends and commuting occurs.
