Entry requirements

Admission to semester 4 requires

* a pass in all compulsory components/examinations/assessments from semester 1, 2

* a pass in all compulsory parts in the courses Physiotherapy III (3PT031) and Psychology II (2PS609).

* one compulsory component/examination/assessment in the courses Physiotherapy III, (3PT031) or Psychology II (2PS609) may be registered as not acceptable achievement.

* passed clinical placement from semester 3.

* At least 76.5 credits

* That the course Neuroanatomy and Physiology related to Pain and Stress, (3PT032) is completed, but need not be approved.

Learning outcomes

The course should provide advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of physical activity behaviour and physical exercise for patients with the largest national diseases. The student should also acquire advanced knowledge in scientific methodology

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. compile, analyse and evaluate scientific literature and research results with respect to adapted physical exercise and behavioural change in patients with a national disease and compare this with national overviews/guidelines.

2. describe and apply methods to measure treatment effects in interventions focusing on physical activity/training, physical capacity and behavioural change.

3. account for and discuss analysis and conclusions of a quality audit of interventional studies.

4. design, carry out and instruct adapted physical exercise based on a given aim.

5. identify psychological and social factors of significance for the change of physical activity and exercise as well as adapt behavioural change and physical exercise based on these factors

Content

Methodology for systematic quality audit. Nursing chain for the most common national diseases. Adapted physical exercise. Strategies for a change of physical activity behaviour.

Instruction

The course is given in the form of group assignments, lectures, practical exercises and seminars.
