Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • describe the conditions and opportunities with Academic Entrepreneurship and technology-based business development,
  • explain and discuss generically different types of process flows that relates to external capital supply and organic business development,
  • describe the idea generation in relation to the research on creativity,
  • account for different types of external stakeholders and actors in the innovation system and their impact on the commercialisation,
  • describe the different ways to package and protect a technology based business ideas, eg patents, trademarks and know-how,
  • account for different forms of market research, differentiation strategies, sales strategies, and finance strategies.

Content

Basic concepts about creativity and general entrepreneurial processes, specifically in the area of technology-based entrepreneurship. The focus is on analysis of business opportunities, start-up and execution of entrepreneurial companies that base their business idea in new technical knowledge and new technological possibilities.

Instruction

The course is structured around theoretical lectures, guest lectures, seminars, and project work in groups.

Assessment

Written home exam (2,5 credits). Presentation of project work as a movie (2,5 credits). Written homeworks presented orally at a seminar give bonus points to the written exam.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
