The course is included in the Radiology Technician Programme, semester 1, and contains 12 credits theory and 3 credits clinical practice.

General entry requirements and Mathematics 2a/2b/2c, Science Studies 2, Social Studies 1b/1a1+1a2 or Mathematics B, Science Studies B, Civics A

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to

1. Describe the basic concepts within radiography, define the vocational branch of radiography and describe the history and the philosophical basis of nursing.

2. Identify the basic skeleton anatomy and describe the basic examination methodology at skeleton examinations.

3. Describe and understand the basics in X-ray radiation, the risks at the use of radiation, principles and methods in radiation protection and describe the structure of the X-ray tube, electricity safety and patient record system.

4. Apply the nursing care process within the radiological examinations.

5. Give examples of ethical, gender, diversity - and equality aspects in the nursing and describe the concepts of stress, coping and caring.

6. Apply principles of hygiene in hospitals.

7. Be able to communicate with patients and staff in an adequate way and show respect for the patient's integrity and autonomy.

8. Conduct basic heart lung rescue

9. Have certain understanding for the subject field of men´s violence against women, and violence in close relationship.

10. Have certain understanding for the processes that leads to violence in close relationships and for the breaking-up process.

On completion of the item interprofessional learning IPL 1 the student should

11. have knowledge of different proffesions´competence and responsibility fields.

Instruction

Examination takes place continuously during the course in the form of written and oral presentations both individually and in groups.

Student who does not pass in clinical practice the first time has the right to one renewed placement.
