Entry requirements
Animation in 2D 1: Theory and Practice, 7.5 credits
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to be able to:
- develop a manuscript and visually communicate an idea
- work with Adobe Animate to produce graphics,
- present advanced practical and theoretical knowledge about animation,
- explain the work process from idea to final animation in Animate, and
- demonstrate knowledge of concepts, production and advanced techniques for vector graphic animation.
Content
The course includes animation theory and design, in addition to advanced animation techniques needed for games and timelines in Animate. The course includes an overview of advanced animation techniques, how to plan an animated film and independent practical exercises in Animate. The course will conclude with an individual project, in which the student has the opportunity to independently and creatively develop their skills.
Instruction
The course is taught in English.
The course will be given as an online distance learning course. Instruction will be given through online discussions and practical exercises with support from course literature in addition to supervision for the individual project work.
Assessment
The course is assessed through presentation of technical and creative work. Grades used are either Fail, Pass, or Pass with Distinction. To receive the grade Pass with Distinction, the grade Pass with Distinction must have been awarded to the majority of the presentations and the final project.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Uppsala University does not accept cheating or plagiarism. Suspected incidents of cheating or plagiarism are reported to the Vice-Chancellor, which may issue a formal warning to the student or suspend the student from studies for a certain period.
NOTE
Only the completed course can be included in the degree.
