Bachelor's degree and 1MB438 Introduction to Bioinformatics.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Show deep theoretical knowledge within a sub-field of bioinformatics, chosen by the student
- Search, evaluate and compile relevant literature within the chosen field of research and development
- Critically evaluate different methods and theories in relation to the chosen subject, problem and source
- Formulate personal conclusions based on a synthesis of obtained data
- In good English and according to instructions, compile the chosen, relevant literature in a report with references
- Where relevant, present data in the form of tables and figures
- Describe the differences between reviews, citations and plagiarism
Content
Literature searches in the library and in databases on the Internet. Interviews with researchers and teachers. Production of a written report.
Instruction
Independent work supervised by the course coordinator.
Assessment
Written report designed according to instructions.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
