Entry requirements

Basic Course in Hebrew, 7.5 credits, or an equivalent course in the Faculty of Theology

Learning outcomes

Upon completing the course, the student should be able to:

- account for the difference between classical/modern Hebrew and rabbinic Hebrew concerning morphology and syntax;

- account for the literary and linguistic distinctive character of the included texts and their historical background at a general level, and

- without aid translate and philologically analyse prepared texts.

Content

The course aim is to give the student extended ability to read, understand and linguistically analyse post-biblical Hebrew text.

Instruction

Instruction consists of lectures, workshops and assessment.

The student's own learning activities are crucial for completion of the course.

Assessment

The students show the results of his/her learning through oral and written exams.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.

Other directives

The course may not be included in a degree if equivalent parts have been read within another course included in the degree.
