Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to
- identify and describe preschool teachers' need of disciplinary-based education skills
- search, select and compile literature and other information for an elective subject area relevant to pedagogical work in preschool
- carry out, document and critically review an independent project connected to the chosen subject area.
Content
The course consists of three parts. Part 1 consists of a module (lectures) which all students together attend; in part 2 students gather and compile literature and other information for an elective subject area; in part 3 a group of students carries out a project within the chosen subject area. In the project the design of an activity that is tested with children or students as well as an analysis of the execution of this activity is included. The course is examined through a written compilation of the acquired knowledge within the chosen subject and through oral, written (and possibly other types of visual) presentation of the project.
Instruction
The teaching is carried out in the form of lectures and seminars.
