Entry requirements
120 credits in science/engineering, of which at least 20 credits in Mathematics. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- report for different types of electric vehicles and assess their advantages and disadvantages,
- plan and value different scenarios with electric vehicles for transportation in the society as well as address sustainability issues regarding environment, society and economy of the electric vehicles,
- report for the technologies in electric vehicles and what components are included in a driveline,
- value the current and identify future requirements of electrical grids in relation to the charging needs of the electric vehicles, and identify future requirements.
Content
Introduction to electromobility and different types of electric vehicles. Advantages and disadvantages of electric vehicles in relation to other transportation systems. Electric cars, electric operation of boats, buses and airplanes. Electric vehicle's drivelines, components and related infrastructure. Integration with battery technology. Sustainability, environmental, societal, economical and ethical aspects of electric vehicles.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, group projects.
Assessment
Active participation in seminars (1 credit), group projects (1 credit), written exam (3 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
