Entry requirements

120 credits in science/engineering. In addition, 10 credits within the mail field of Quantum Technology at Master's level. Participation in one of the courses Quantum Information, and Second Generation Quantum Technology. Participation in one of the courses Photonics and Quantum Optics I, Optoelectronics and Spin Based Technology I. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student shall be able to:

  • make a project plan, independently do the project and continously report on the status of the project and analyse deviations from the plan
  • demonstrate deep knowledge within a selected part of quantum technology
  • search, interpret and collect relevant scientific and tecnical literature
  • limit a technical problem, find, analyze, interpret and value possible solutions, and generate hypotheses to explain observations made
  • orally and in written form present the project using a correct technical/scientific language

Content

Project management. A selection of projects at companies or research divisions within the area of quantum technology will be offered. Students can also suggest projects in collaborations with companies or departments.

Instruction

Project work in groups of two or three students, or individually.

Assessment

Oral (5 credits) and writtten (9 credits) presentation of the project. Status reports during the project (1 credit). The oral presentation is done at a predetermined date at Uppsala University, and if needed also at a work place outside the university.

If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
