Entry requirements
120 credits within the Master's Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management. Industrial Engineering and Management III: Project in Business and Technology Development. Participation in Industrial Engineering and Management IV: The Company and its Environment.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, students should be able to:
- independently apply different scientific methods in order to study and analyse a defined problem area,
- give an account of current research with reference to a problem area,
- identify the need for further knowledge within the chosen engineering science field, taking an engineering approach,
- develop and deepen their knowledge of industrial engineering and management by compiling, studying and analysing theoretical and empirical material,
- demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems independently, and to carry out a project within given time frames,
- present an academically relevant analysis based on collected theoretical and empirical material in writing and orally, and present a critical review of others' work orally and in writing.
Content
The course consists of an independent project conducted under supervision. The project should relate to current problems in technology-intensive organisations. The project also includes the student actively participating in joint and individual supervision seminars. Based on these seminars, the student should independently collect and compile theoretical and empirical material. This material should form the basis of an analysis aimed at answering a research question.
Instruction
Degree project based on seminars and individual supervision. In addition, occasional lectures can occur. Attendance at seminars and supervision is mandatory. Supervision is guaranteed only during the semester the student is registered and, to a lesser extent, the subsequent study period.
Assessment
Written and oral presentation of project work and oral and written critical review of others' work.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the university's disability coordinator.
