Entry requirements
75 credits within the Bachelor's Programme in Sustainable Development in Industrial Engineering / Industrial Engineering and Development.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to:
- give an account of basic conditions at the workplace, especially the relationship between employer and employee,
- discuss work environment issues that are relevant to the programme at a general level, based on work environment legislation and frequently used regulations from the Swedish Work Environment Authority,
- discuss engineering-related issues with professionals in the field,
- apply the knowledge acquired in the programme,
- reflect on experiences acquired during the internship period in relation to theoretical knowledge from earlier courses in the programme and relevance to the future professional role,
- describe, analyse, document, present and discuss the work carried out during the internship,
- reflect on and discuss sustainability issues based on the organisation chosen for the internship.
Content
Basic conditions at the workplace, a selection of work environment issues relevant to the programme, based on work environment legislation and regulations from the Swedish Work Environment Authority. Engineering-related issues, internship at a company or other organisation that is relevant to the programme and provides a basis for applying acquired knowledge, reflections on and discussions of experiences relating to the future professional role, engineering-related questions and sustainability issues.
Instruction
Lectures, seminars, supervision of written assignments and internship at a company or other organisation relevant to the programme (at least 80% participation in the organisation's activities is compulsory).
Assessment
Written assignments, oral presentations, active participation in seminars (4 credits) and written and oral presentation of internship (6 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding targeted pedagogical support from the University's disability coordinator.
Other directives
The compulsory attendance rate of at least 80% is defined in relation to the hours that an employee is expected to be at the workplace according to the workplace's working hours agreement.
