Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- explain the basic prerequisites and meaning of energy transition in relation to an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable society
- describe existing structures and goals in society that regulate the work with energy transition
- explain the technical conditions that exist for an energy transition
- identify innovations, changes as well as ideas that can contribute to an energy transition
Content
The course provides fundamental knowledge on the conditions for energy transition and perspectives on the concept of sustainable development including environmental, economical and social aspects. The energy system is discussed on the national level to identify the challanges and possibilites for energy transition. Furthermore the course provides an interdisciplinary perspective in which various aspects of energy transition and their connection to society are discussed. Examples related to energy transition are introduced for various sectors of the society.
Instruction
Course material in the form of reading advice, reading material, assignmnets and quizzes are available in the e-classroom on the Internet and the student is given personal feedback by the tutor. A forum for discussion is also available.
Assessment
Written hand-in assignments and quizzes (6 credits). A written essay (1.5 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
Other directives
The course cannot be included in the same degree as 1GV169 Introduction to Sustainable Energy Transition.
