Entry requirements
120 credits in natural science/engineering including 10 credits chemistry or participation in Economic geology which can be taken in parallel. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the student shall be able to:
- identify and explain geochemical anomalies associated with ore deposits and mineralizations,
- critically analyze and interpret geochemical exploration data,
- construct an exploration plan based on geochemical information.
Content
Geochemistry for regional exploration. Exploration of mineralised rocks, including ore minerals, alteration assemblages and host rock. Estimating grades and tonnage from geochemical data, drill cores and image analysis. Environmental geochemistry of mine sites applied to monitoring and remediation.
Instruction
Exercises, seminars and lectures.
Assessment
Active participation in seminars and lectures (2 credits), written exercises (3 credits).
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the disability coordinator of the university.
