General provisions
The course is elective within the Bachelor´s programmes (180 cr) and the Master Programme in Game Design (120 cr). The course is also a freestanding course.
Entry requirements
120 credits. Proficiency in English equivalent to the general entry requirements for first-cycle (Bachelor's level) studies.
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
- display an understanding of how to use gamification as a tool for project management
- describe and apply core principles of game design for personal and systems transformations
- reflect upon the neurobiology of playfulness in relation to game design, and
- design playful environments and experiences to empower creative project management.
Content
This course explores the power of game design and playfulness in the context of project management and leadership. Students will learn about the core principles of human-focused gamification design. They will also gain a biological understanding of the human mind of playfulness in relation to creative project management. Students will learn how to use game design principles to intrinsically motivate and empower team members and teams towards successful outcomes.
Instruction
This course combines lectures and seminars with workshops and group work
Assessment
Course assessment takes place throughout the course and is based on active participation in seminars, workshops and group assignments, as well as through a final examination.
If there are special reasons for doing so, an examiner may make an exception from the method of assessment indicated and allow a student to be assessed by another method. An example of special reasons might be a certificate regarding special pedagogical support from the University´s disability coordinator.
