Entry requirements
130 credits in science/engineering including Solid State Physics I and Solid State Physics II. Proficiency in English equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary course English 6.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- carefully and systematically plan, carry out and document a study in a technical research or development project within solid state physics with technical relevance and technical reference,
- independently search, evaluate and compile relevant theoretical information required for the implementation of the technical research or development project,
- summarize and formulate own conclusions of the completed project in a written report and an oral presentation.
Content
Implementation of a technical research or development project in which knowledge from solid state physics is deepened and utilized through the exploitation of materials' electrical, magnetic, multiferroic and optical properties in technical applications. The students choose a supervisor in consultation with the examiner. Experimental or theoretical work is chosen in consultation with the supervisor and examiner, and a project plan approved by the examiner is set up.
Instruction
Project meetings with teachers and seminars.
Assessment
Active participation in seminars (1 credit), project plan (1 credit), and written presentation (report, 7 credits) and oral presentation of project work (1 credit).
